How to generate a password
- 1Set a length and choose the character sets you want.
- 2Turn on “avoid ambiguous characters” if the password will be read aloud or typed from paper.
- 3Copy the result into a password manager. Generating a new one replaces the previous value in the page only.
Questions
How random is it?
Characters are taken from crypto.getRandomValues, with rejection sampling so the modulo operation does not bias the alphabet. Each selected set is represented at least once.
Should I use this for a passphrase?
This tool builds a character password, not a word passphrase. A long password from a large alphabet is strong; store it in a password manager rather than a note.
