How to calculate concrete volume

  1. 1Choose the shape and enter the dimensions. Switch the inputs between metres and millimetres if you need to.
  2. 2Multiply by the number of identical members.
  3. 3Pick a mix ratio to see dry volume, cement bags, sand and aggregate. The dry volume factor is 1.54.

Questions

How many cement bags are in a cubic metre?

It depends on the mix. For 1:2:4, one cubic metre is about 6.3 bags of 50 kg. The tool uses a dry volume of 1.54 times the wet volume and 0.035 cubic metres per bag.

Should I order this exact quantity?

Order from the drawing quantities, with the waste allowance your site uses. This estimate ignores wastage, spillage and variations in batching.
