Staircase Calculator
Split a floor-to-floor rise into equal risers near the riser you prefer, then apply one going. 2R + G is shown as a comfort check, not a code design.
This runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server.
How to use the Staircase Calculator
- 1Enter the floor-to-floor rise.
- 2Enter the riser you would like and the going.
- 3Read the number of risers, the actual riser, 2R + G and the slope.
Questions
What is 2R + G?
Twice the riser plus the going. A figure around 550–700 mm is a common comfort check. It does not approve the stair.
How many treads are there?
One fewer than the number of risers, for a single flight with no landing.
